Overview
This project focuses on PT Bumi Hijau Konservasi's (PT BHK) area in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, covering two units of land totaling 15,968 hectares. PT BHK is in the final stage of proposing a forest license for environmental services (IUP-JL) under the Ministry of Environment and Forestry license. The area faces a significant threat of conversion to an oil palm plantation by another company. By preventing this conversion and restoring the threatened forest to protected status, the project aims to contribute significantly to emissions reduction, totaling up to 17.8 million tons of CO2 equivalent. The project area includes secondary dryland forests, non-forest areas, and peat areas.
