What You'll Do
- Conduct stakeholder mapping to identify key actors relevant to the company’s project.
- Develop effective community engagement strategies in compliance with VCS-CCB Verra Standards or other project-relevant standards.
- Design and facilitate public consultations to ensure local community input is considered in project development.
- Develop and lead the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) process to secure informed and voluntary community approval for the project.
- Conduct participatory mapping with communities to identify customary territories, local resources, and other social aspects.
- Perform land tenure studies to understand land ownership rights and usage patterns in the project area.
- Assess High Conservation Value (HCV) social aspects, including HCV4, HCV5, and HCV6.
- Facilitate conflict resolution between communities, the company, or other stakeholders.
- Develop social Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.
- Prepare reports aligned with VCS and CCB Verra Standards and/or other standards relevant to the project.
What This Role Needs
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Forestry, Anthropology, Sociology, Community Development, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, public consultation, or stakeholder relationship management. Fresh graduates with internship or relevant project involvement are welcome to apply.
- Previous experience in forestry, environmental sectors, or projects based on VCS-CCB Verra standards is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge and/or experience in: Stakeholder mapping and community engagement. ; FPIC processes, participatory mapping, and public consultations. ; Social Impact Assessment and land tenure studies. ; High Conservation Value (HCV) social aspects (HCV4, HCV5, HCV6).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Good understanding of local regulations on environment, forestry, and indigenous community rights.
- Proficient in project management, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work in the field and travel to project locations as needed
