It has been 4 years in the Fairatmos journey, we have been through a lot. Regulatory uncertainties, market volatility, but we persevere. We believe our mission is bigger than all these challenges, and maybe there is a reason why we are still around.

The recent massive floods across Sumatera reminded us that there is no more dire time than now in finding ways to mitigate and adapt to the impact of climate change. It reminded us of how close we are to breaching 1.5C long-term average temperature increase and begged the question: do we still have a chance? As we are closing 2025, the next 5 years is our make or break. 

In solving how to survive this climate change, it's like solving a puzzle where everyone has their own unique piece. The 1.5C pathways from IPCC mentioned that carbon removal is imperative. Someone is doing what it takes to curb emissions from a high emitting sector, through policy or advocacy. Someone else with engineering PhDs is building the best carbon capture machines across the deserts and sites. It doesn't mean everyone else who does not have a PhD does not have a role. Nature is undemanding, it is kind and it is forgiving, it is welcoming to everyone who wants to rekindle its power to heal. 

Someone needs to make sure that nature is able to grow, to remove something that is too much in our air. Someone needs to make sure we have strong enough coastlines that are resilient to the strong winds and high tides to deal with our new reality. From the forest to the sea, we need to restore what was left behind and to enrich what is left. For every tree or mangrove root we restore gives us better odds for our future.

What is more important is doing it with the most scientific rigor, to build the trust in bringing markets and financial instruments to value nature restoration as one of the most essential assets that we had taken for granted. Doing it with all the courage and humility in testing our understanding of nature through experiments and technology. Doing it at the scale and the speed that has never been done before (oh we are used to the eye rolls, but we did it anyway :)). Doing it together, with policy makers, forest rangers, fishermen, fathers, mothers, teachers and future generations. 

That is our puzzle piece. Bringing everyone, everything, together, to restore. Like a synapse in our nerves that creates impulses to allow our muscles and body to do great things, all our work will be the impulses for all of us together to do more. Fairatmos: Restore nature, together.
