On January 20, 2024, Fairatmos proudly participated in a milestone event for Indonesia’s climate future—the launch of its International Carbon Trading platform. Held at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), this groundbreaking event marks Indonesia’s commitment to leading the global transition to a low-carbon economy. Our CEO, Natalia Rialucky Marsudi, represented the Fairatmos team, witnessing firsthand the sale of over 42,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) in carbon credits to 11 buyers, with more than 100 participants.

This event signals a turning point for Indonesia as it opens its domestic carbon exchange, IDXCarbon, to foreign investors. By doing so, Indonesia not only strengthens its role in the global carbon offset market but also establishes a transparent, regulated platform for carbon credit trading—making it easier for businesses and governments worldwide to offset emissions and meet climate targets.

Aligned with the COP29 climate summit agreement, the launch of IDXCarbon enables nations to trade carbon credits and use them to achieve their national climate goals. This move facilitates emissions reductions while attracting investment in clean energy projects, offering both environmental and economic benefits.
